2018 is the year of real for me on the blog. More authenticity, more genuine, more of my heart will be put into my posts.
While I am still primarily focusing on fashion, I wanted to write with more meaning and purpose. So, let’s start here.
There are some very worthy brands out there in this great big world that are worthy of your attention and I wanted to highlight a couple that have I recently stumbled upon and both have pulled at my heart strings. These two brands, FashionABLE and Grey Ministries were both such a beautiful reminder that God is still at work.
This post is not sponsored in any way. I simply wanted to shed light on these two brands that are so deserving of our support.
FashionABLE ‘Beautiful products by women who have overcome.’
I found out about this brand through my friend Ashley at Love Always, Ashley J. (her style is effortless and versatile, so check her out).
Fashionable was started by Barrett Ward, who after living in Ethiopia saw how young women living in poverty were forced to do whatever was required to support their families, including prostitution. His goal was to provide an alternative for these women to earn a living and empower them to end the cycle of poverty that trapped them.
Their shop consists of classic and minimalistic apparel, jewelry, shoes, and leather goods. To give you a nice comparison, their merchandise reminds me a lot of Madewell and we all know how much I love Madewell. They are also dedicated to making sure you are 100% happy with your purchase, because they have so much riding on their products.
I bought this bag and plan to continue to support them.
“ABLE is a lifestyle brand focused on ending generational poverty by working with women who have often overcome extraordinary circumstances. We manufacture directly in the communities we wish to impact, both locally and globally, creating jobs and ending the cycle of charity dependency.”
I found out about Grey Ministries through the sweet Hanha at Transparency Blog (if you need some encouragement, get to know Hanha).
Grey Ministries was founded by Leah Grey, through her husbands battle with addiction. Her ministry’s purpose is to provide a community of faith and support for women whose loved ones too, struggle with addiction. Her shop is filled with free devotionals, bible studies and books, plus my most favorite, prayer blankets. You know, those huge, knit blankets? Well these have a purpose. They have been prayed over and are unique to each individual, just like their own situation. How amazing is that?!
‘Here at GRACIE, we believe that love is greater than addiction, which is why 100% of your purchase goes to supporting Grey Ministries, a faith-based outreach created to encourage, inspire and help women with loved ones battling addiction. Together, we stand on the front line of the epidemic fighting the battle with the most powerful weapon of all- the heart.’
I hope you’ll take the time to explore these brands. I know once you become acquainted with either of them, you’ll be encouraged by their purpose and missions.
