#traveldiary: Paris, Part 1

In honor of Paris fashion week, I figured now would be as good a time as any to post our pictures from our Paris trip (that was 6 months ago!).

I’ll be honest, when we arrived in Paris we didn’t get off to the best start. I had booked our hotel for the wrong dates. Unknowingly, we arrived at our hotel only to be told we hadn’t shown up the week before. I bursted into tears. But the lady at the front desk was so kind. She did everything she could to help us find a hotel. She let us stay in her small lobby with our luggage while we scoured the internet looking for an available hotel. Luckily we were able to find one, not exactly the one we wanted, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Once we finally were settled into our hotel room we headed out onto the streets of Paris. First stop — Notre Dame.

If you are able, you must climb to the top. There are 387 steps and no elevator so you have to aware of your abilities, but the view is well worth it.

We also ascended the Arc de Triomphe. To get to the Arc, which is in the center of the busiest roundabout in Paris, you actually go underground through a tunnel and the entrance to that tunnel is across the street from the Arc, which is a tad confusing but certainly the safest option.

There are fewer steps to reach the top of the Arc as compared to the Notre Dame. Still 284 steps, though. But again, well worth the climb. One of the best views of Paris, if the not the best, is atop the Arc.

We ended the day with sorbet from una Glace a Paris and headed back to our hotel room exhausted but ready for two more full days in Paris.

Part 2: Eiffel Tower and Louvre to come. Way too many pictures to try to shove into one post. 🙂
