It’s been about a month or so ago that I stumbled upon a live Instastory with Olivia from Livvyland blog (I love her and her style!). She was speaking at an Influencer chat session about how to start a blog and while I didn’t need the start up advice, there was one big drive home point she made about establishing your “brand” that resonated with me.
She asked if you could think of three words that would describe your brand and to be honest I couldn’t really think of three (which isn’t a good thing, considering I am almost two years into blogging). With that, I have taken this past month or so to try and really figure out what three words would best describe my vision for Awesome On Occasion and I think I finally know them.
The name of my blog, which you hopefully know by now, is Awesome On Occasion — and the reason behind the name is that I am nowhere near perfect and I never want to portray that. Perfection is unattainable, no matter who you are or what you look like, and I never want to give a false sense of perfection through my blog. In fact, I would like to do just the opposite. I want to share my experiences, both good and bad, with you. Life isn’t just about a great outfit and the next vacation. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll be sharing a lot of those experiences with you, too. But I also want to share my struggles, struggles that I am certain you can relate to. For instance, my struggles with self-confidence, comparison or anxiety. But I also hope to share with you how I overcome. Which leads me to my next descriptor.
By sharing those raw, unfiltered moments, I hope you leave my blog feeling encouraged — encouraged to know that you are not alone and that you can overcome. I find strength in my weakness through Christ and his unending love for me (and you) and I often write about how transformative a relationship with Jesus Christ can be. I hope to spread happiness and positivity like wildfire (just ask my co-workers, if you need a big ol’ dose of positive, you can come to me) and to do it by loving like Christ does.
I also want to encourage simply by pursuing a desire of my heart, which was creating this blog. I worried about what people would think or say (small town gal, here) but then I thought “you know what, I’m going for it”. I hope you are encouraged, motivated, and empowered by that. I am just another girl, working a 9-5 and if I am chasing a dream, so can you! We may succeed or we may fail, but at least failure means we tried, right?
You will find my truest self on this blog. I am goofy, I am quirky, I am nerdy, and I also happen to love clothes. I am a true believer in Christ and his transforming love and I find joy in encouraging others. I don’t like my voice or my ankles (weird, I know) but I do like my smile and my personality. I love giving away hugs. My favorite T.V. show is Friends and I am addicted to sour candies and I am here because of you.
I hope to lift you up and share happiness to you with a good outfit, a goofy laugh and the love of Jesus Christ.
