Packing for Italy

If you don’t know it already my husband and I are headed to Italy this week for vacation. We’re so excited! We booked our trip through Groupon back in February so we’ve literally been waiting all year for this. We’ll be staying in Rome for 5 days and are taking a train ride up to Venice for a day. I’ve been attempting to pack for this trip this entire weekend. Here’s the deal, Bobby is requesting we only take a carry on. Being that we’re only over there for 5 days he is concerned about losing our luggage (especially considering we’re flying through 3 airports before we even get to Rome — boo). I completely understand his logic but here’s the problem, how the heck am I going to do that?! What if it’s cold? What if it’s raining? I need outfits for tours and outfits for nights out —  this isn’t going to be possible.

So, I threw out all of the clothes in my closet onto my bed that I potentially wanted to take. There was a lot. But I managed to filter through and picked out what I thought were the best choices for the trip. So here is what I am packing for our trip to Italy.

One // FOREVER 21 Open-Front Hooded Cardigan
I’ll be wearing this on the plane. Planes are always so cold! Plus this will come in handy for chillier days. I think the lows are going to be in the forties while we’re there, so this will be perfect.

Two // FOREVER 21 2-in-1 Utility Jacket • Forever 21
This will be in case it is ever raining. Plus it’s much more stylish than a rain jacket, at least in my opinion.

Three // Sailor-stripe funnelneck T-shirt • J.Crew
I’m hoping to wear this the day we travel to Venice. Since Venice is on the water it will be colder and this will be perfect.

Four // Strappy Cami • LOFT
I’ll be taking this for layering. It’s also a dressier top so I can wear this out to dinner.

Five // BP. Stripe Crewneck Tee • BP
You can never have too many striped tees, am I right?

Six // Madewell ‘Central’ Chambray Shirt • Madewell
Another shirt for layering.

Seven // Double Pocket Topper • Ann Taylor
I am excited to wear this coat. I found it for a steal (like a $60 kind of steal) at Ann Taylor and I love the color! It’s still on sale but I think the sizes are limited.

Eight // Oversized Flannel Scarf • Old Navy
I was told once to take a big scarf on a plane ride because it can double as a blanket. Why had I never thought of that before?! So I’ll be trying it out on this flight. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Nine // BP. Faux Leather Leggings • BP
Faux leather leggings for a dressier look than what standard leggings can give and they’re just as comfy.

Ten // Pixie pant • J.Crew
My trusty pixie pants — I couldn’t leave home without them.

Eleven // Elia B Loafer • Isabella Oliver
These slip ons are going to be perfect for the trip. They’re a step above tennis shoes and still as comfortable. I’ll feel slightly more put together wearing these.

Twelve // Marc Fisher Ignite Ankle Booties • Marc Fisher
These booties are the bees knees — super chic and perfect for strolling the streets of Rome.

I am so excited for this trip! I have never been to Europe before. Be sure to follow along on Instagram — I’ll be posting a lot of pictures!
