Packing for a Quick Trip to Charleston

Every summer we try our very hardest to make some time to travel down to Charleston, which is basically my most favorite place on earth. We are so close (~4 hrs) so it just makes sense that we take a long weekend whenever we have the chance. Well, we’re getting ready to head back down and I wanted to share what I’ll be packing (even if it is for only a few days), plus a few easy tips I always use when I am packing.

Here is where I like to begin —

one // plan outfits for activities

We aren’t going to be doing much more than heading to the beach during the day and going out at night. So that means I will need three outfits for the evening + one extra outfit just in case + my beach wear. Easy peasy.

two // pick a color palette

If you have been around for a while you know how important I think a color palette is when it comes to building your wardrobe and planning outfits. And it makes packing SOOOOO much easier. For this trip I have landed on white + denim blue + black + yellows. I like to pick out a bottom of at least 3 of those colors and tops in all colors that way my outfits are easy to create and each piece is versatile.

Make sure your shoes compliment your color palette too. And be sure to choose your shoes based on what you’ll be doing. Like for me, it’s the beach and dinner. So, it doesn’t make much sense for me to include a pair of heels in my suitcase. Nothing fancy happening here. I think a couple pairs of sandals will do just fine.

three // add Accessories

Don’t forget to add your accessories. This is something I have not always been so good at. But I am learning that they are oh, so important. My accessories are a purse, jewelry, beach bag, and a hat (probably taking the second one from the left). I do tend to leave them for the end and base them around what I have already packed.

And there you have it! I am all packed for Charleston and a couple of days early — which I don’t think has ever happened before. Ha!
