It always takes me a couple of weeks after the New Year to get back in the swing of things (you can read more about why here). But now that I’m finally feeling motivated again, I wanted to share with you one of my goals for the New Year.
January is already my least favorite month (with exception to my Mom’s birthday 🙂 ) so I decided to distract myself a bit and challenge myself to a no buy January.
We are almost half way through the month now and so far, so good.
I am honestly grateful to this challenge. I have been bringing life back to my closet — back to pieces I love and to some that I have forgotten about. Doing a no buy month has also helped me hone in on my personal style even more since I am being forced to use pieces I already have. Honestly, the Cladwell app had helped me a lot with matching pieces I may not have thought about before (you can learn about Cladwell here). And that has helped me to realize that those pieces I was coveting aren’t necessary after all. If I have seen a piece I liked, I have added it to my cart only to think about it for a few weeks more, which is honestly a good habit to develop. It reduces those impulse buys tremendously.
This no buy month has also made me more conscious of the impact the fashion industry has on our planet. And I am going to do my very best to reduce my purchases this year as compared to previous years. I want to continue to only have pieces in my closet that I love and will wear for many seasons.
So, if you see me posting this month, just know my outfits are made up of pieces I already own. Nothing new for this gal 🙂
