A Charleston Weekend

Charleston is one of my most favorite cities to visit if not my favorite. I was lucky enough to be able to spend another weekend in Charleston a few weeks ago for a double birthday bash. No matter how short the trip, Charleston is always worth it.

If you have never been to Charleston or are thinking about going back I have listed a few of my very favorite places to visit. We always try each year to make the short 4 hour drive to Charleston at least once, so I have quite the list of my favorite spots. This is a rather condensed list but I made sure to include my very favorites — there are just so many wonderful things to do and places to visit in Charleston, this list would be endless!

Where to Eat

167 Raw // This restaurant is in a quaint little spot away from the bustling center of downtown, and oh my goodness, their lobster roll is amazing!

Hyman’s // This place is usually packed out but the seafood is most certainly worth the wait. They have the best hush puppies ever too and will bring them around while you wait!

Callie’s Little Hot Biscuit // Nestled in a small nook in downtown, expect it to be packed out. It can be a little clausterphobic inside, their isn’t the best seating choices — but the biscuits are flipping amazing. I have eaten their twice now and I dream about their cinnamon biscuits often.

Rita’s on Folly Beach // The most amazing nachos in the world. The one request my husband had while we were down there for his birthday was these nachos — pulled pork, jalapenos, and a watermelon pico … oh my.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream // Unique and traditional flavors and located right on King Street. You can grab some ice cream while you stroll the streets window shopping. Perfect!

What to Do

Favorite beach // Sullivan’s Island — Never overcrowded and the beaches are pristine.

The Battery // A beautiful park along the water front. Take a blanket and lay out on the lawn or walk around and admire the beautiful live oak trees and the brightly colored houses.

Rainbow Row // Just a few minutes walk from the battery is Rainbow Row which is the longest series of row houses in America and they are all painted in pastel colors — a perfect photo op.

Downtown // Shopping is top notch. They have the complete spectrum of shopping, from Forever 21 to Louis Vuitton.
